The NYA was put in to place in 1935 due to the fear of the growing numbers of unemployed youth. This program prevented the number of unemployed youth from growing while allowing young people to continue studying, and also provided on-the-job training for those not in school giving them important skills for the future. Originally this act set minimum wage at 25 cents, a workweek for 44 hours, and made it illegal for children under 14 to work. The AAA was established to help agricultural workers during the Great Depression because crop prices were low. Farmers were paid to only raise a certain amount crops and pigs in order to increase prices, causing farmer's cash income to double between .
