         <description><![CDATA[<p>The new SAT is moving away from writing an argument toward evaluating an argument.  Students need to be able to evaluate the writer's craft.  Suggested professional development looking at how arguments are set up.</p><p>Suggested PD includes interdisciplinary focus on rubrics, speeches, etc. Compare focus on rhetoric and argument. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The SAT may be moving away from writing , but universities are heavy on writing in every class(even Math).  My daughter graduated from CCC then transfered to Stevenson for this current semester, and writing is an integral part of EVERY  class.  I think a helpful focus could be the Persuasive Essay and research papers.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Get back to reading the classics...take vocab words from the text, do research project based on text.  Incorporate immersion-style teaching where students read a non-fiction or fiction book that coincides with what is being taught in History etc.  For example:  reading Red Badge of Courage, Uncle Tom&#39;s Cabin when studying the Civil War.  </title>
