I found it interesting though that no one in "civilized Europe" ate horse meat for centuries as it was deemed a "pagan practice by the Pope during this time. I was just flat out disturbed by the Tuna case.

The use of these horses in meat could cause blood disorders according to the article. Due to the British holding horses as pets rather than looking at them as food manifested into default-shun to eating horse meat. France, on the other hand, looked at horse-meat like a lean and hearty source of protein because they embraced the idea of eating horses from prior economic struggles.

I prefer to personally see them as non-editable animals, but I also understand where different cultures come from. In the U.S. it is frowned upon (even though we send horses to Mexico for consumption), while it is not as slanderous in other areas. Not knowing what is in one's food, whether it be human or horse, is potentially detrimental.
