         <title>Timeline of significant events</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>&nbsp;1945-The 38th parallel was created, separating North(supported by USSR) and South Korea (supported by US). This was the beginning of the clear distinction of the divide between the two sides. The political beliefs got turned into something physical ,making this a really significant event.&nbsp;</li><li>1948- US called the UN to sponsor a vote that would allow Koreans to choose what their future government would look like. The plan backfired when North Korea refused to vote and the South created its government in response.</li><li>1950- North Korea invaded South Korea.&nbsp;</li><li>1950-Us president(Truman)ordered US forces to go back to Korea to prevent further invasion in the South.</li><li>1953- Korean War armistice signed. This was a really significant event because it drew a new border between North and South Korea and officially separated the two countries from each other.</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>
