BL, both languages are puprosely taught versus translangualism where one language is the host language, the home language can be used to learn the host language, but the eventual purpose is to speak wholly that host language.

We are not a bilingual school, and we need to improve on our pedagogy around translanguaging- For now EAL teachers help students. All staff should be helping and more visuals like word walls and dictionaries should be available to the students.

the same as above for me as well. My school is an international school that promotes mainly speaking English in the classroom. it is not bilingual in the classroom. The Support staff are encouraged to also speak English. Marketing also use this as a selling point for potential families.(Anisa)

Edward, thanks to you , I do understand what Transacquisition Pedagogy is. Based, first on your metaphor, and then on your definition and explanation of the phases, I can understand why you put something directly into action versus using the CDC model.

Hi Edward. Thank you for sharing you explanation of Trans Acquisition pedagogy with us. You explained it in steps which helped me understand clearly. Today was the first time I heard of TAP. I found the concept very interesting! I am interested to know how it will go when implementing it in your class and how the Chinese staff will put it to use. (Anisa)
