If I integrate a collaborative arts project into my classroom it would be imperative to use different sources around the school to help students. Ultimately, art integration projects are extremely helpful to students and their development. If I wanted to incorporate a music project I would collaborate with the school's music teacher to make sure I have information correct. I will teach this concept by giving clear directions and explaining the importance of music in the classroom.

This project is taken directly from my elementary classroom experience at Werner Elementary School. During our lesson on what a rainstick was and its history, our teacher pulled in the art and music teachers to help us create our own sticks. We used the art room to make the sticks and decorate them. Then we used the music teacher in order to learn how to use our rain sticks. I'm sure we learned a lot about rhythm and how the sticks sound different when they are put together. This was probably my favorite project that I ever made in an elementary classroom setting.
SE

When integrating art into my classroom, it's important that I get all the help I can get. Art, music, and PE often have the disadvantage that they feel they don't truly get to see how a student shines yet it's the general education teachers who are missing out. There are so many students that express themselves through art and music, and a general education teacher may not know how much they shine in that area. Because of that I would need help by asking what areas they really excel in and what areas that they seem most interested in.

When you want to incorporate an arts integration project for your classroom, you must need all of your resources of staff on your team like the music, art and physical education teacher. I was thinking of teaching a concept through a arts project. I could pick any unit in the curriculum and create a project that has to incorporate an art into it, however, I would let the student decide which one they would like based off their likes and interests. I would hope that each teacher would want to be involved with this process because each teacher could take a class period/time to help students incorporate different ideas of these arts into their projects. The outcome would be that everyone would be involved and all of the arts would be represented in the students projects.
HG

When integrating the arts into my classroom, I will need all of the all of the art, PE and music teachers on my team. When we are learning the colors I would like to incorporate drumming into the lesson. For this specific lesson I will definitely need the music teacher on my team so we can borrow some of their african drums. To teach the lesson I would have all of the students sit in a circle with their drum, we would go around the classroom and say our favorite color, I will write them on the board and then we will go around in the circle and drum to our favorite colors. I would expect the outcome to be that all of the students know their colors and how they are spelt, along with knowing a little about african drumming.
LR

When integrating arts into my classroom I would need the specific educators such at the art, physical education, and music teachers on my team as they are the experts. I want to work with younger kids so for example they were learning about spiders around Halloween hypothetically. I would want to integrate a spider art project, have them learn a music song about the different parts to a spiders body, and have a movement activity to where they crawl around like spiders. I want to incorporate all art areas in my lesson as the expected outcome would be these activities will allow the children to expand their learning of spiders more than they would have been able to if I was simply the sole teacher. Educators have various methods and I want my students to experience a variety of learning techniques.

-JS

In order to be able to develop an arts integration project in my future elementary classroom I would need the help of the music teacher, the art teacher, or the PE teacher depending on what type of project I want to complete. An example of a project could be on different types of folk dancing across the world. This would enhance concepts such as cultural acceptance, globalization, expanding the students world view, geography, and social studies. I could have help from the music teacher to discover songs from other countries and the dances that go a long with them and to learn about the best ways to have children understand and learn their part. I could then have help from the art teacher in order to design the clothes or accessories the students will use in order to represent the culture or country from their folk dance. Through a project like this I would hope students gain a better world view, they recognize differences among cultures but they also realize that there are similarities among people from all around the world (such as dancing and singing) they will also learn about maps, how to read and use them, because they will need to know where their country is, among other topics such as working in groups and socializing.
MH
