Cardinal Cafe - Great Wall of Leaders by Lisa Edmondson

The purpose of this platform is to recognize the type of leader who inspires the best in others... the CARDINAL Leader. This type of leader, as depicted in the book, The Ethology of Leaders, by Lisa Edmondson, is the epitome of all people leaders and the type of leaders we need more of in the workplace. CARDINAL Leaders are humble, honest, authentic, inspirational, selfless, and empathetic. Please share your personal story of a CARDINAL Leader who made a difference in your life. Pictures, poems, stories, and artwork are all welcome. This Great Wall of Leaders is the predecessor to a charming coffee table book that I hope to publish as a physical reminder of the power of a CARDINAL Leader, and gratitude. Thank you for being a part of the story! Click the gold plus sign in the lower right corner of this page, then post away!

Leading With Grace

I've had a few great leaders in my career. However, when it comes to CARDINAL Leaders, I have to credit my late friend, Angela Fletcher. Angela was my boss for a brief period when I worked at Coca-Cola. She was spearheading a first-of-its-kind eLearning leadership program for our frontline leaders and the vendor whom content development had been outsourced to was not "getting it." As an Instructional Designer, I was brought in to review the existing content and was introduced to Angela. It was a rocky start for us, because I'm an impatient ADHD'er and was frustrated with the crap I was looking at that our company had paid large amounts of money for. I immediately started explaining everything that was wrong with the content, and it was with great patience and grace that Angela said, "Ok, Lisa. Why don't you take this storyboard and go back and rewrite it the way you're suggesting?" Challenge accepted. Instead of her being offended and never inviting me to another meeting again, she gave me a chance. This led very quickly to me being assigned to her on this project full time, and us bonding in a way that extends beyond our lives here on earth. She taught me how to lead with grace and it is her leadership style that I found success with when I emulated it in subsequent roles as a people-leader myself.
