Aldous Huxley was born into an illustrious family deeply rooted in English literature and science. His father was a biologist known as "Darwin's bulldog" for championing Charles Darwin's evolutionary ideas. As a child, Huxley contracted an eye disease which left him nearly blinded. This forced him to abandon his wish to become a doctor and is a strong motif in a lot of his writing. Huxley wrote A Brave New World during a time of great technological progress and the rise of multiple totalitarian leaders. Huxley was able to anticipate the major events of the Second World War and use it as a background to his dystopian society.

The Importance of Stories

1. Stories present a way to think about events in a alternate world and how humans behave within them. They help us think about different sides and make an appropriate decision. In this way, they increase our ability to frame.
2. Framing is the techniques and methods by which a story conveys whether something is positive, negative, a little of both, or something else entirely. It's what makes the difference romanticising, advocating, or criticising something, or leaving interpretation up to the audience.
3. Reading about something as surreal as Brave New World I came to a realisation that most things work in theory, but as proven both by fiction and history, most governmental theories collapse and fail.
4. Stories are used to teach valuable life lessons when it comes to morals and standards, but stories also allow us to explore history and that way, ensure it doesn't repeat.
5. Causal determinism is sort of the idea that every event is necessitated by antecedent events and conditions with the laws of nature.
6. They enable us to think more freely, which is a direct counter to causal determinism in the sense that we break "the flow" and go on our own.
7. Don't make no sense
8. Stories are easy to understand and follow along which make them an optimal tool of teaching.
9. Stories help develop imagination and creativity, help to develop techniques of problem solving, they develop memories, they motivate and most importantly, they are exciting.
10. Simplifying the narrative of problems and solutions through a story allows tech companies to communicate a message that is easy for the audience to understand and, most importantly, remember. Stories combine ideas, data, and connection.
