  • Be open and honest about how the class will be graded - keep talking about the end project, to keep it fresh in your children's minds. This will help them to begin thinking about their possible ideas, and will make sure they're not in for a surprise by the end of it.
  • Give children a copy of the rubric - this will help them to see how they can perform well, and will maintain that open channel of communication.

These examples are just of few examples of many different types that teachers can utilize in their classroom. These types of assessment are great because the performance aspects require students to use higher order thinking skills and a greater degree of cognitive rigor.
