Technically there are movies that are really educational and its obvious from the start but then there are fictional movies that are also educational and you realise that near the end of it. My personal favourites are: Mulan🔥, Brave, Princess and the Frog, Barbie movie(s), elementals, inside out, Nanny McPhee😭, Sound of Music😭, Mary Poppins😭, Winnie the pooh, big hero 6, Lilo and Stitch, the good dinosaur, prince of Egypt💝, Joseph king of dreams💝, a bugs life, up, bolt, veggie takes, abominable, rise of the guardians, Annie, the wild robot 💝, E.T., Charlotte's web, Stuart little, tangled, wonder, gifted, and there are more but it really depends on the teaching of the teacher to explain these movies to the children in a way they can understand why it is educational. Also it depends on the mindset of the classroom. Is everyone open or are they biased?

You can go off on this one😂. You can use one movie to cover several different parts of a unit and work through it until the end. For example, one of my previous TP schools used the story of Willy Wonk and the chocolate factory to teach about chocolate. They read through the book and we're assigned tasks on what there is to know about chocolate, the process, another story related to it that teaches students about morals and the things that happen when you eat chocolate (greed), at the end they were allowed to watch the whole movie. Seeing the movie, they were able to connect better to the Unit of Inquiry topic and apply the knowledge in the right places. I always believe that movies are inspired from something in our daily lives. As a teacher, you can use anything in any way as long as you know where and how to apply it. If you are showing something about feelings, family or friendship.....there are countless of movies to show it in any form. You can connect it back to the real world by asking: okay, how do those unique bonds look in our world? What types of family dynamics do we have? What morals and values do they have to keep them together or to be called a family?
