The University of Toronto National Scholarship covers tuition, residence, and incidental fees for up to four years of study. The award is available to and is awarded based on superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional extra-curricular achievement in a broad context. The scholarship is open to the individual who has been nominated for the National Book Award (as long as they are applying to U of T).

National Scholarship Deadline:

The deadline to apply for the 2024 National Scholarship is October 17 2024 (11:59pm EDT). The online application form will be sent to the Book Award nominee.

National Book Award Nomination

The University of Toronto has both a National and International Scholarship program. To be eligible to apply, you must be selected as our school's U of T Book Award recipient. Preference is given to those indicating U of T as a top choice. 

If you are interested in either the U of T National Scholarship (for Canadian citizens and permanent residents) or the U of T Lester B Pearson International Student Scholarship (for non-Canadians with study permits), complete this form and submit to Ms Miller no later than Monday Sept. 30, 2024.

The Loran Scholars awards program supports students to attend universities across Canada, offering 36 awards with values of up to $100,000 over four years, and one-time awards of up to $5000 and $2000. These are the most valuable major scholarships in Canada. They are intended for students who demonstrate academic excellence, great strength of character, commitment to service in their communities, and who have clear leadership potential.   

Applications are now open; please be aware of the eligibility criteria and deadlines:

-Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%.

-Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.

-Be at least 16 years of age by September 1st of the following year.

Please be sure to indicate your intention to apply to your guidance counsellor AND request a letter of reference from an advisor/head of house or counsellor no later than Friday Septemer 20 (three weeks ahead of the deadline). 

***Monday October 7 is the INTERNAL LCS DEADLINE to COMPLETE & SUBMIT your application (including a letter of reference).  You need to submit your part of the application BEFORE your recommender can submit their letter in advance of Thanksgiving break beginning on October 10 ***

National Scholarships are designed to recognize all-round excellence. They are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic performance (minimum 90% on all Gr. 12 4U/4M courses) to candidates who demonstrate ability for creative and innovative thought and a passion for the pursuit of learning. National Scholarships also recognize exceptional achievement in extracurricular activities such as the arts and athletics. A special emphasis is placed on a candidate's commitment to community service through ongoing contributions to school and community life.

TO REQUEST A NOMINATION: Please complete the following Google form and submit this, along with your resume to Ms. Miller, no later than Monday, January 20, 2025.

Applications are DUE February 14, including a recommendation letter from someone at LCS (teacher, advisor, counsellor).

All applicants must have obtained a minimum overall academic average of 90% on all Grade 12U/M courses (or equivalent).

Students who demonstrate superior academic ability, creative and original thinking, involvement in school or community activities, and proven leadership qualities can apply for a Queen’s major admission award. Financial need is also a consideration for some of the major admission awards.

You may apply for all of the awards for which you are eligible by submitting a single Major Admission Award (MAA) application. The deadline to submit your application is December 8, 2024. This means you should have your OUAC application submitted to Queen's by November 20, so you can gain access to the SOLUS student centre and complete the MAA application by Dec. 8.

*Be sure to let your guidance counsellor know if you would like to apply for the Major Entrance Scholarships at Queen's.

The Chancellor's Scholarship, the most valuable of the Major Entrance Scholarships at Queen’s, requires a school nomination. We can only nominate ONE student for this scholarship.

Please complete this nomination form and share with Ms Miller no later than Friday Oct 21. 

You will then be notified by the end of the month if you have been successful in securing the school's nomination. This will give you time to submit your OUAC application to Queen's by Nov. 20, and then continue on to complete the Chancellor's Scholarship application by the Dec. 8th deadline.  Please review all of this information carefully.

To become a Pearson Scholar, you MUST BE NOMINATED BY LCS, an international student and study permit holder and be applying to undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto.

Submit your initial application to U of T on OUAC by October 18, 2024; then submit the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship Application by November 8, 2024. THIS REQUIRES A LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION to be requested by October 18, 2024 (3 weeks ahead of deadline).

To be eligible to apply to the Pearson International Scholarship, you must be:

-an international student (i.e. a non-Canadian requiring a study permit);

-beginning your studies at the University of Toronto in September 2025

The TD Scholarship for Community Leadership is one of the country's most prestigious scholarships, valued at up to $70,000 over four years at university. The scholarship is intended for students who have demonstrated significant EXTERNAL & School COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP during their high school years, while also maintaining a good academic standing. 

• Only those students who are Canadian citizens or who have permanent residency are eligible for this. 

• The key criterion is “OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP”. These scholarships are awarded to students across Canada who have demonstrated consistent and outstanding dedication to solving a community problem or making their community a better place. 

  
  

  
  

Please look over the information online and let your guidance counsellor know of your intention to apply no later than Monday October 21 2024, so that they can support you with this application. 

You need THREE LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION TO SUPPORT YOUR APPLICATION: one letter from the school AND two letters of support from community groups (at least one should be related to community involvement that is external to LCS). An essay of up to 600 words along with a list and description of your community activities is required, so you should start work ASAP if you are interested.

DEADLINE TO APPLY: December 1, 2024 for those who have Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status.  January 15, 2025 for International Students.

How do you apply?

Students wishing to be considered must apply to UBC by December 1 for domestic (Canadian or PR Status) applicants and January 15 for international applicants.  Students indicate that they would like to be considered for scholarships & awards when asked in their UBC application. All sections of the online application must be completed by the deadline noted above, including paying the admission fee, in order to qualify.

All high school applicants will be evaluated for scholarships based on their Academic Profile, Personal Profile, and “scholarship short answer” sections of the online application.

***N.B. Students should also complete and submit their OUAC applications BEFORE submitting their applications to UBC.

The Schulich Leadership Scholarships are the largest and most prestigious undergraduate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) scholarships in Canada. There are 50 engineering scholarships available, valued at $120,000 each and 50 science, technology or math scholarships available, valued at $100,00 each. 

You need to demonstrate:

-academic excellence

-leadership, creativity & charisma

-strong consideration will be given to students with financial need

*Must be entrepreneurial-minded AND intend to pursue a career/postsecondary program in one or more of the following areas:

A) Technology

B)Engineering

C)Entrepreneurship and business enterprise

SCHOLARSHIP WILL NOT CONSIDER anyone pursuing the following:

 The scholarship application, including two recommendation letters, is DUE by Feb. 19, 2025. (An email is then sent to teachers to submit their letters of recommendation by the same deadline).
