         <description><![CDATA[<div>Water enters the root hair cells by osmosis. Once water enters the root from the soil it travels to the xylem vessels in the middle of the root. The xylem vessels transport the water up through the stem and into the leaves of the plant. The leaves have a high concentration of dissolved minerals produced from photosynthesis and an overall low water concentration. Water is thus transferred from the xylem vessels to the cells in the leaves via osmosis.The cells which water are transported to are also known as stomata .          <description><![CDATA[<div>Wind increased the rate of transpiration more than all other environmental factors tested for 8/9 of the plants. Heat had the second highest rate of transpiration for all but one of the plants tested. Light had the lowest rate of transpiration over all. In fact, for 4/9 of the plants tested, their transpiration rate was lower with the light than without. Wind most likely increased the rate of transpiration the most because the wind was able to most effectively cause molecules of water to evaporate or blow off of the plant causing transpiration.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
