Throughout the partnership, Pentrehafod staff have visited Siavonga Secondary School three times (2015, 2017, 2019) and Siavonga staff have carried out two reciprocal visits to Pentrehafod School (2015, 2019).  Through the Connecting Classrooms programme, staff and pupils at both schools have been encouraged to explore issues of Global Sustainability, Community Development and Critical Thinking and Problem Solving. The 2019 partnership was based in the overarching Sustainable Development Goals Life on Land and Life Below Water and the theme of the pupil-to-pupil project was Zero Plastic, Waste Management and the concept of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Prior to colleagues from Siavonga Secondary School visiting Pentrehafod School, professional relationships developed digitally and through three previous visits to Siavonga Secondary School where good practice was shared between staff partners and pupil-to-pupil relationships developed. Regular contact between the travelling teachers ensured the sustainability of the project in that staff were able to provide solution-focused approaches to potential barriers to the project's success and work co-productively to ensure that these barriers were minimised from the outset. Ahead of the 2019 visit, an action plan was created collaboratively by pupils in both schools, Pentrehafod link teachers Julie,  Lisa and Beth and the Siavonga School link teachers Milz and Ellis; this ensured that meaningful participation opportunities were offered to all involved. The Siavonga-Pentrehafod partnership believe that equity and reciprocity is essential to maintaining the strength and sustainability of our partnership and ensures both sides are able to maximise the potential of sharing good practice that embeds the principles of the ongoing shared learning.
