During my college program, I have completed my placement at Pinetree Montessori. My first placement at Parkwood did not go well for a variety of reasons. My prof explained that it was not my fault. I finished that field placement on line. Unfortunately it meant that I did not get the hands on experience I need.

I look forward to my third and final placement at Princes Elizabeth School because I have never worked in a kindergarten classroom before and I am interested to learn how ECE’S work alongside teachers.

The following artifacts demonstrate my knowledge of the different areas of child development. These artifacts show the important information and skills I have learned in this course. I have learned about theorists and their philosophies. I researched Marlene Powers who founded the Forest schools. I have learned a lot about forest schools and their view that risky play is essential for development.

The observation of babies and observation reflection assignments demonstrate my continued growth of knowledge and understanding of child development. They also show my ability to put my learning into a physical document.

These artifacts show my ability to retain what I have learned about child development throughout the last three semesters in the ECE course. They show I have a strong understanding of all the areas of child development.

 I believe that educators should view children as strong competent and capable learners. Educators need to build responsive relationships with children and their families. The following artifacts show my learning, knowledge and skills I have gained from placement and my courses in ECE. They have helped me to use my knowledge to extend children’s learning through open ended play experiences. They will help me when I graduate and go into the field of ECE.

It is important that we give children opportunities to grow and strengthen their knowledge through opened play experiences. These artifacts demonstrate my knowledge and skills that I have learned and gained throughout the past three semesters and assignments to create these experiences for children. They display my current knowledge on how to build relationships with families and children. They also display the skills that I have gained though my life and the ECE courses I have completed.

The purpose of this artifact is to display my understanding and knowledge of first aid and the TVDSB school board, they give me permission to be trusted with young vulnerable children. This allows me to be able to do field placements and further develop my learning through hands on experiences. They allow me to put the knowledge and skills studied into practice.

These artifacts are in this section because it demonstrates my ability to do the required steps to complete these mandatory procedures. I have skills and knowledge about this section, and I can always learn more.

This artifact is my best work because they show, I have the skills earn a first aid and CPR and school board training requirements. They show I have knowledge and understanding of how to be a first aider and to work in a TVDSB school. It demonstrates that I have the proper skills needed to administer first aid. These are required to practice in a childcare setting.

I hope I never have to put to put my first aid training into practice, but I know that young children are at high risk of choking especially when their transitioning from soft to hard food. With these qualifications I will be able to help or assist others to help a child in distress or difficulty.

The following artifacts demonstrate my ability to advocate for children and their families. It is important that we make responsive relationships with families so we can help advocate them.

They are in this section because they demonstrate my ability to advocate for families to help them and their children. This is important because if we don’t advocate for them then their children may not get the proper supports, they need to be successful.  

These artifacts show my best work in this section. The op-ed paper shows my hard work and strong determination to advocate for children’s rights to learn. They also show my knowledge on how to advocate for families and their children.

The family support plan shows that I have a good understanding of the different community services that can help to support families and their children through areas of development. It demonstrates that I am using case studies to learn how to recognize how a child is progressing though the developing competencies such as: emotional, social, physical, language, and cognitive development.

The artifacts this section are examples of professional learning that are needed to practice in Early Childhood Education. They display the knowledge I have retained from the research I have done in the last three semesters.

They highlight my ability to research a community service and to reflect on my learning. I have learned so much more about the Cherryhill London library and the free services they offer to children and their families.
