4. Research Topic: The effects of Kaempferia parviflora extract on anthropometrical, nutritional and lipid profile parameters on rats fed a high fat diet

Research Problem:

- Obesity has been widely regarded as one of the major risk factor for various chronic health conditions such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes mellitus type 2

- Therapy development for metabolic disorder requires an animal model that mimics human condition hence the usage of rats fed a high fat diet

- Current available medication for metabolic disorder and obesity has side effects that can be dangerous in long term usage (Orlistat)

- Aims to find and suggest and alternative treatment plan for people suffering from obesity and metabolic disorder.

Research Question:

- What are the anthropometrical changes observed in rats fed a high-fat diet supplemented with Kaempferia parviflora extract compared to those without the supplementation?

- How does the addition of Kaempferia parviflora extract affect the nutritional intake and utilization in rats consuming a high-fat diet?

- What alterations occur in the lipid profile of rats fed a high-fat diet when supplemented with Kaempferia parviflora extract, and how do these changes compare to those without supplementation?

- Does consumption of Kaempferia Parviflora extract affects genes that plays vital role in managing metabolism in rats fed a high-fat diet compared to rats without these supplementation?
