This course really stretched me. One of the things that I am most proud of from this course is learning, and being able to implement, so many different strategies through the informal lessons. I liked being able to learn about a strategy and then go implement it. So many times we sit through courses and learn about different things, but we never get to put any of our learning into action. I felt so accomplished with each informal. I feel like my gifted toolbox is overflowing!

I enjoyed learning the highly collaborative strategies, specifically JIGSAW and SIX HATS. While I have no problem with teacher-led
small groups or partnerships, my weakness is relinquishing control and allowing the students to learn on their own in groups. Both of these were a tremendous gift to me and to the students to be able to work together and have discussions amongst themselves and not have me feeling as though I had to deliver elaborate content and talk the whole time. I used both for Social Studies where I am inclined to talk and talk. I did not have to do that and it was clearly not necessary. The students handled it.

I really enjoyed the Inquiry Strategy. It has been one of my favorites to implement into my social studies lessons. It has been fun watching my students discover interesting facts about some of the people and places that we have studied. It was great to learn strategies and actually get to implement them

I really enjoyed the formal lesson on Jigsaw. That was the first time my students worked in small groups and researched using books and online resources. I knew it was going to be chaotic and I do not like chaos, but I had to get out of my comfort zone and just go with it. It was a little crazy and my students needed a lot of assistance, but they really enjoyed learning about their topic and I enjoyed trying something new.

I am proud of myself for taking chances with new strategies! I really loved using the Reading for Meaning, Compare/Contrast, Concept Attainment, and Task Rotation. This class really built up my toolbox for working with all types of learners.

The activity that I was most proud of was my first Formal Lesson Plan where I used the Jigsaw strategy. I enjoyed not just implementing the strategy but also enjoying the learning that was going on in my classroom. The students were so engaged and the products that were produced were so telling of the learning that was happening through out the process.

I really enjoyed my first formal lesson: jigsaw of the 1st Amendment. My students took content that can be really challenging to understand and became the teacher. They created worksheets for others to fill in and posters to show what they learned. It was great to take a step back as the "lecturer" and observe them teaching!

I loved getting to know the strategies for teaching our gifted students in class, and then seeing the strategies in action! Even though they didn't always turn out the way we thought they would, students always learned something from the lesson, and so did I!

I enjoyed reading the TST book. I learned so many new strategies for my students. I found the strategies to be helpful for all students and most strategies are not too time consuming.

I enjoyed doing the Tic Tac Toe informal lesson with my first graders. I used it as a review for the DA. I put one standard for each box. The students had to do 3 activities to do a Tic-Tac-Toe. If they get it wrong, they need to go back to try a different tic tac toe.
