The private sector aims for maximization of profit while the public sector focuses more on the welfare of the people. 

A typical objective for a private sector is to gain as much market share as possible to have the ability to influence product prices. This is important as it is a competitive aspect for many businesses to make their product appeal to their potential customer, businesses that have a large market share have established themselves and have their own loyal customer base. This means that they can either increase or decrease their product’s prices, leading to a trend of other smaller businesses doing the same. 

 A public sector organisation's focus is usually on the welfare of its citizens. The difference between the public sector’s objective and the private’s sector objective is that it is not profit driven. The public sector concentrates more on matters such as its citizen’s health, education and quality of life. 

A social enterprise is a business that prioritizes social objectives and community benefits over maximising profit. It differs from a profit driven business by while still putting making profit as one of its objectives, this is not the primary or only goal. 

A business needs to set a clear objective because it is important to its success. A clear objective is essential to then build the business’s framework, operation and management strategy which makes a lot of difference on the business’s performance as a whole. 

CSR involves integrating social, environmental and economic concerns into the business’s operation to foster sustainability. CSR can influence the business’s decision making, operation and management. 

The Triple bottom line includes economic, social and environmental objectives. They matter to the business today because people are starting to be more socially aware and are demanding these as standard which could affect the business tremendously in terms of sales and reputations. 

Mission statements are used to convey the business’s purpose and how it will achieve its goal to customers. Aims are broad, long term goals of the business used to guide the business through building its operation and management and the business reaches these aims by setting objectives, which are more short term and specific. Strategy is the action plan that business set to complete certain goals, tactics are smaller steps taken to reach it.
