I chose to use an image of a house as it is one of the main settings in the book. When introduced to Wen and Henry, we are given a taste of their home life. With Wen, we see how she feels imprisoned in her house by her father and mother. Her father makes sure that her and her mother are always at home and doing the things he wants them to do. In a way the house represents their isolation from the outside world.

For my sound I chose a song by Craig David called 'Walking Away' as it represents Wen and her mother walking/moving away from Wen’s father’s rules and commands. We see their relationship strengthen as Wen’s mother becomes more confident in speaking up for herself and Wen, and doing what she knows is right despite her husband not agreeing.

I chose the "heart mending back together" image as he is depressed about his father committing su*cide, but he starts to develop feelings for Thomas and starts to feel happy again.

I have chosen the sound of "soft piano music" as it is a sober time when his dad dies but he eventually finds love again when Thomas moves into the neighbourhood

I have chosen "sad piano music" as his life is going downhill as he ain't very motivated to do much good as his dad died and Thomas is scared from that experience

blue as it represents how sad and depressed he is at the moment in his current housing and life situation as he isn't very happy due to the lack of involvement by his parents and his falling out of love with his girlfriend

The sound I have chosen is the sound of gunshots. Since the bronx has a high crime rate, it is properly common in where he lives.

I chose the colour blue as it represents sadness and stability. The protagonist Aaron goes through many stages of sadness throughout his story, but finds stability when he starts to develop feelings for Thomas.

I have chosen the image of a lion as it symbolizes strength. This is because Aaron shows great strength throughout the book by pushing through the grief of his fathers suicide.

An image that can relate to his character are the Comedy and Tragedy masks. This is because at the beginning of the novel, Aaron could not find happiness as it was only month after his father's death but later in the novel, he becomes happy after finding love.

Sound

A sound signifying his thoughts can be Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. This is because this song starts off as very sad, quiet and slow but as it continues, it gets louder and more dramatic, similar to his happiness.

For the sound, I chose the sound of rain. I chose rain as rain can be a sound that calms the body and soothes people, which relates to Aaron in trying to ignore the pain he is experiencing. Rain can also represent 'tears' or 'sadness'.

The image I have chosen was a person standing in a corridor alone as Aaron may feel as if a part of him is alone due to his dad's passing. It also represents isolation.

The image that represents Aaron is a photo of someone holding something on their back. Aaron has his mum relying on him and his death of his father still inside his mind. Also, he is always worrying about things all the time.

The sound I chose is calm neutral music as Aaron is quite calm about everything. But he is still quite depressed

I chose this picture because it shows Aarons's state of mind, as he has a lot going on in his mind wondering about his relationship with his girlfriend and because his mum hasn't been happy in a long time.
