Collaborative groups worked together to create unique, innovative, diverse, glamorous and practical textiles and clothing. The evening began with the talented duo Tony Lee and William playing didgeridoos. Aly De Groote's team featured old and new ways of weaving, embedding and sharing culture and story telling, using ghost nets to create works of art. Check it out. Jill Finch

I watched this amazing series about young women supporting girls in their communities overcome barriers to gain self confidence AND develop self identity.
I recommend for this group, the therapy piece about group therapy using surfing for a group of women with trauma.
It shows how groups can build relationships, trust and support healing. The different stages discussed offer insight into the behaviour within the group dynamics. One is sitting in the moment and enjoying the experience and wanting to spend a lot of time in the early stages of building relationships. The other wants to press ahead and move through quite quickly.

This relates back to the Cultural Intellegence topics we covered in last semesters Children and Young People Subject.
I work with China. In a non-covid world there were many visits to suppliers and trade exhibitions. My colleague and I have built lasting relationships with many of the staff (where they refer to us as their Aussie daughters/sisters). This was mostly done by what seemed naturally being open to body language and showing an interest in their culture. Amazing what a difference it makes to business relations to take the time to have dinner (and be open to their cuisine of choice) and sit in a tea ceremony. Quickly you learned that they were either offended or visibly gutted if you didn't make/have time for this special part of business for them.
Try to learn some of the words, interpreting body language on what they are saying. They will often say 'yes, yes' even if it is not possible, so time must be taken to ask the question differently so they can articulate the problems they may encounter without loosing face. This has given us clear opportunities because they would 'rather' work with us than those other 'rude' businesses that may have bigger wallets but not the time to understand or care.
