I’ve always struggled with my last name because when my parents first came to America they had no papers to prove there date of birth nor name so i grew up with the name Sara Ali and a mom and dad who would call me a different name at home. Even now my last name isn’t truly my dads name and not one that shows my identity

Both my parents are Somali refugees and came to North America in the early 90s my mom originally went to Virginia while my dad was living in Canada my parents met in Minnesota near the cedar buildings.

I have 8 siblings including me with 6 being older than me and one younger brother. When i was younger my family traveled a lot between Somalia Kenya and Dubai, and I’ve lived in Somalia as well as studying in Somalia for 2 years.

What i did this summer

This summer i hanged out with my friend and went to the moa with her as well as watch some movies in the movie theater with her. I also had my sister who lived in Somalia came to visit with my niece for the summer and it was really fun to have a baby in the house. I also went swimming at the gym and tried how to learn how to swim. And i went thrifting for the first time and bought a few things and found a new hobby.

Things going well

Not a lot is going well nor bad so far. I mean I didn’t have Islamic classes for the last week but at the same time I’m not prepared for it this week. And i have met and made some new friends this school year already so that’s good. But right now I’m very excited for winter because i have bad seasonal allergy’s during the autumn.
