These two scenes show that the character is caring. However, the author uses different techniques and goals to achieve this. 

The techniques the author used for both scenes were: Revealing actions, tone, and dialogue. The two scenes revealed that the characters in the scene are very caring. Keoko was caring because she was worried about her uncle so she went to find him, but Tree ear is caring because he cares for Crane man, so he is saving food for him.  The tone for these 2 scenes are both building suspense. By using some inner thinking in the first scene, the author tries to really make everyone worried about someone, and make them seem like a very caring person. 

I liked the techniques and goals the author used, because she really shows the scene with actions of the characters. Also, since she uses a lot of inner thinking, it really helps to analyze the scene and know what is happening.
