-Never taste laboratory chemicals because some may be poisonous.
-Walk don't run because you may bump into someone holding dangerous chemicals.
-Wipe up any spills because someone can slip and hit themselves on the floor or table.
-When using a bunsen burner always put a board under it because the bunsen burner could burn the bottom of the table.
-School bags should either be left outside or at the front of the room because they are a fire hazard.
-Don't bring food or drink into the science room because they could get contaminated by chemicals.
-Never burn pencils or paper and especially don't burn plastic because the plastic could release harmful toxins into the air and catch alight.
-Keep your chemical area separate from your writing area because then you don't get chemicals on your books and ruin them.
-Always keep glassware away from the edge of the table because you might knock it and it can fall and break.
-Report all breakages straight away because they could be dangerous to other people.
-Wear safety glasses when working with boiling liquids because the steam could burn your eyes and because the liquid could bubble and get in your eye
-Always replace the tops of chemical containers because someone might use it on a different chemical and cause a dangerous reaction.

You have to put the gas on, then get a striker (Flint and steel) and strike it at the top of the barrel. This should light it but the flame will be a weak yellow or orange flame. So you need to turn the collar sightly so the air hole is open, open it half way so it will turn a bluish colour. If you open it completely it may blow out
