Back in the beginning of Chicago, Fort Dearborn was the site that caused tension between the people of early Chicago and Native Americans, as Natives hated it because of how the Chicago people took away their land from them. This would soon lead to a massive massacre near the fort during the war of 1812, as the Birtish convinced the Natives to attack there as they would soon go on to kill 54 Chicagoan's during the battle of Fort Dearborn. After the massacre near the fort, all Natives would be later removed from Chicago following a treaty in 1833. Today, Natives are welcomed back into the city as there is a American Indian center in the city that has the goal of uniting other Native tribes and the people of Chicago. alongside history museum recognizing both Fort Dearborn and the Native tribes from that time period.
