why is NAME, RELEASE_DATE not null when it references a PK and then why not SCREEN_NO not null as it also 1 optionality (I assumed because references PK?) Many thanks

I am slightly confused why the correct answer involves removing some attributes such as Job_Title from Employee. I thought the attributes of same entity types were meant to be merged into one.

I was wondering what makes the first table contains values that are atomic? I would have thought name column was not atomic because it can be split to first and surname.

I find the showed answer to this question is somehow conflict.

Problem Description

1. PRIMARY KEY: DOG_ID is a unique identifier for each record.

2. FOREIGN KEY: MOTHER_ID must refer to a DOG_ID that already exists in the DOG table.

3. NOT NULL: MOTHER_ID cannot be null.

Conflict Analysis

- When we create a new record, we must specify a MOTHER_ID, which must be a DOG_ID that already exists in the DOG table.

- However, when we insert the first record, it is unlikely that any record exists, so the condition that the MOTHER_ID must reference an already existing DOG_ID cannot be met.

- Clearly, a dog cannot be the mother of the dog itself.

In conclusion, I believe the answer to this question should not contain UNIQUE constraint on MOTHER_ID.
