The UN Social Development Goals (hereafter SDGs) include 17 goals that establish a commitment to eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable development by 2030 worldwide. According to Paulo Freire, process transformation for a just and equal world lies in theory and action that emerge from people’s lived reality (LEDWITH, 2011). The SDGs provide an excellent framework and opportunity for Community Development (hereafter CD) to implement strategies within the communities, to play successful realizations for social justice and sustainability in a worldwide context. With this background, the main purpose of this assignment was to get an overview of how the SDGs are being implemented within the community, focusing on initiatives that reduce inequalities. Before we started mapping the community, we had to get organized and reach a consensus on how we would approach this assignment. We decided to start with a project we found interesting, and then, with qualitative method research, evaluate and compare to the SDGs, setting the goals we wanted to achieve with the mapping process. We decided to start with a project that we found interesting and then we had chosen Red Cross, but since they have transnational work with giant variations of approaches and initiatives, we listed all of the initiatives regarding Stavanger and linked them with their appropriate SDGs. After that, we reach a consensus on the parameters of the map and selected the goals we were going to map, that were chosen from multicultural works related to the SDGs 4, 5, and 10, respectively, quality education, gender equality and reduce inequalities. These were selected because, in Stavanger, Red Cross has a variety of initiatives, but we decided to focus on only three, in an attempt to narrow down the research field, the  ones that take part, especially among recent migrants, and take into consideration gender, language and economic barriers. According to these parameters, we determined the types of resources we would like to collect, this process was made by developing the interview guide. Theory of community mobilization: It aims to mobilize the community to use the assets in the community and work together with and influence local authorities to pay attention to theirs claims. -


The Theory of Individual Change: This theory seeks the transformation of a critical mass of individuals.


The Theory of deep causes and justice: This theory addresses the underlying causes of injustice, oppression / exploitation, menace to identity and security, and feelings of victimization.


Theory of institutional development: It aims to establish stable and reliable social institutions that guarantee democracy, equity, justice and an equitable distribution of resources.
