From MoMA’s website:” Recalling a portrait session with Monroe that took place in his studio in May 1957, he said, “For hours she danced and sang and flirted and did this thing that’s—she did Marilyn Monroe. And then there was the inevitable drop. And when the night was over and the white wine was over and the dancing was over, she sat in the corner like a child, with everything gone. I saw her sitting quietly without expression on her face, and I walked towards her but I wouldn’t photograph her without her knowledge of it. And as I came with the camera, I saw that she was not saying no.”1 Avedon managed to capture one of the most photographed stars with her public façade down, producing an image that provides a rare glimpse of her inner life.“

The main subject is the actress Charlize Theron. The color value is very intense and the picture itself is as well very intense with the water fall rushing down the side of the rocks. The image has a sense of leading lines leading down and to the right: the water rushing down, the dress blowing in the wind, and Theron's body overall is stretching towards the right and slanting down.

The subject of this photograph is a mother caring for her children, as catwoman. This photo demonstrates what some people would call a normal, regular or even an easy life of a mother. That said, I believe that in this photo, Dulce Pinzon is trying to illustrate that the mother is indeed a superhero by the way she cares for her children. Dulce Pinzon gave this photo a very warm tint/hue reflecting the warm nature of the mother.

The main subject of this artwork would have to be about everyday West African life of a brother and sister being happy and joyous as they are close and having fun. This piece uses a good deal of balance between the background and the foreground as there are not too many chairs or other items in the back as compared to them. There is also a strong mood as they seem very happy and playful and content.

The photo shows a good balance between the foreground and the background, with the photographer Jamel Shabazz choosing to have a clear focus on his main subjects. There’s a contrast in the colors displayed in this picture with the main focus having a brighter color then the background. Also the photographer was able to capture motion in this picture which makes the image more interesting to look at and sets a more playful mood.

We can see that there is no exact main subject but there is a main theme which is the expressions on the peoples faces. Weegee wanted to elaborate the relationship between human expression and immigration in the 1940's. We can see that there are meshing body squished together in a confined space as if they were stuck in the photo itself. The photo is in black and white giving a more bleak attitude when showcasing the hardships and difficulties of Jewish immigration into New York.

The first image I chose to talk about is Their First Murder by Weegee. This is because this photograph can be considered a perfect of example of filling the frame. The space is used wisely with people filling up the frame to give an idea what's happening in the photo. It's also noticeable that the crowd in the photograph is quite diverse with people of all ages huddled around to look at something that's out of the frame. The other image I chose was Nuit de Noel by Malik Sidibe. This photo shows a clear focal point which is the man and woman. The emphasis on the foreground of the image conveys a sense of celebration and joy.

This photograph is a part of one of Corinne Day's many exhibitions. The exhibition holds 4 photographs in total, all having one subject, and in black and white. Two portraits and two full body's. This portrait is very up close and personal, showing the subject facial features. It's very symmetrical, and it focuses on only the face.
