Dear Diary,

Today I found out about Singapore before 1819 in my history class.

At first, I realised that the defense of Singapore was very weak. We were protected by the Majapahit Kingdom. Futhermore, we were also attacked by Java and Siam twice. I was upset when I read about it.

I also realised Singapore was wealthy as it was ruled by rich countries and traders from China were brought to Singapore to trade easily by the monsoon winds before 1819. This created a political connection.

I just found out that Singapore marks the birth of Modern colonial. It gave the English East India Company the rights to set up a trading port, in exchange for installing Sultan Hussin as the Sultan of the Singapore and granting the sultan and the Temenggong as share of the trade.

I concludes that this 3 sources summarises about what Singapore was like before 1819 in different areas.
