This stage is the fastest growth period in life. You start to learn to eat solid food, learn to talk, walk, as well developing trust. The mother I interviewed told me her child learned to talk at an early age. Not all children develop at the same speed, and some faster than the rest. She just happened to start developing cognitively before physically.

Stage 2 happens around 2-3 years old. Mainly they are increasing their vocabulary, speaking abilities, as well as walking. They also learn to be more independent, for example being potty trained. When interviewed, the mother said that her child being potty trained changed everything around the house. When she was able to use the bathroom all by herself, it freed up a lot of time.

This stage is between 4 and 5 years old. The skills obtained through this stage include: initiating play with other children, asking questions, pretend play, as well as asking questions. This current stage is the stage my interviewee is in. Her mother says she never stops asking questions, and always wants to play house her little sister. She said it is fun to watch because her younger sister has no clue what is going on when playing house.

My interviewee has yet to reach this stage, but I remember my sister going through this stage, and she was a tattletale at this age because she had recently learned right from wrong.

The puberty stage usually starts around 9-13 for girls and 14-17 for boys. This is where they start developing physical features, and deciding who they want to be. When I was going through this stage I remember it being hard and awkward and feeling like I was behind the rest of my classmates. Guiding your child through this stage is very important.
