I believe I had one of the early strains of COVID and was struggling with the after effects, primarily with memory loss and focus. Through research, I found a different way of eating (intermittent fasting 18:6) that improves cognitive functioning. My memory has always been a source of pride for me and I am so glad to have it back.

Putting my phone out of reach

Like a lot of people, I find that the more I look at a screen (computer, phone, etc), the more distracted and anxious I am. But the more distracted and anxious I am, the more likely I am to absentmindedly stare at a screen. It's a mess! So lately I've been putting my phone across the room while I work, and I've started closing my laptop when I'm taking a break (instead of just clicking over to the news or twitter). Instead I go stand outside or cuddle one of my pets for a minute. It's a little shift, but it keeps me a bit more grounded in my surroundings and my body. Also, I can confirm I have not "missed" anything by not checking my phone every ten minutes.

Being disconnected from friends and family has been challenging for all of us. I haven't seen my parents, my sisters, or my nephews in person for almost two years. In an effort to connect with my people, I have started writing postcards and letters. It's been a really nice way to communicate and feel a part of people's lives even though we are physically distant. (It's also an excuse to buy really cool small business-made stationary.)
