When I go to Florida I love to see the beautiful ocean with all the beautiful fish. However, this year I don't know if I will be able to look at the beautiful fish or be able to eat fish because of overfishing. Do you like to look at all the beautiful colors of fish or do you like to eat fish?  We won't be able to do that if all the fish die! That's why you need to stop overfishing and start making more legislation to stop people from overfishing all the beautiful fish in the sea.

Overfishing is terrible and it kills an abundance of marine life in the ocean. For example “Now we’re facing an imminent and global collapse of our fisheries, projected to happen as early as 2048, thanks to overfishing, wasteful fishing practices and massive overconsumption.”(You Can Help Stop Overfishing). As a result, this shows that overfishing is a serious matter, one of the worst ways to overfish is trawling for example“Trawling drags huge nets through the ocean that scoop up every animal and the ecosystem in its pathway, resulting in massive wasteful bycatch – dead fish are returned to the sea because they weren’t the target fish. We don’t have that kind of sea life to waste.”(You Can Help Stop Overfishing) As a result, this shows that trawling kills so many innocent fish. Another reason why overfishing is bad is because it can wipe out entire species of fish. For example, “Shrimp, salmon, cod, tuna, and many more could become extinct in less than 30 years. Overfishing is an emergency that can no longer be ignored.”(Plenty Of Fish In The Sea Maybe not ) As a result, this shows that overfishing is killing entire species of fish and it's not sustainable. This shows that we need to stop overfishing before it's too late. 

One solution to overfishing is for you to make more legislation to stop overfishing. For example, “Facing depleted fish stocks with an imminent and complete collapse, the Chinese government imposed a trawling ban in Hong Kong’s waters that took effect in December 2012. They did this by buying fishing vessels fitted for trawling and supporting deckhands who’d be affected by the reduced amount of fish caught. Bans like this in the waters of Alaska, Chile, and elsewhere are being fought for by environmental organizations. They need our help!”(You Can Help Stop Overfishing) As a result, this shows that if you make a law to stop one of the worst overfishing methods, it works! You could save an entire fish population. Another way we could protect fish is if you make more marine protected areas. For example “The Marine Conservation Institute wants to increase that number tenfold,7 and have ten percent of our oceans become Marine Protected Areas by 2020. We would like to see 20 percent of the ocean protected to ensure increased healthy fish stocks in the future”(Sustainable Solutions) As a result if you make more marine protected areas so people cant fish in that area it could save so many fish. That is why you should make more laws to stop overfishing

Senator Stabenow, I know you love to look at the beautiful colors of fish as much as I do. And I bet you like eating them so that's why you need to make legislation to stop overfishing. If this keeps happening then future kids like me might never get to even see one fish. This is why you need to make laws to stop overfishing.
