Before this project, the teacher will need to color the pasta. Once this process has been completed, the students will then be given the pasta and styrofoam base. They will then be given time to create their design. Students will be given coins and a piece of construction paper. Then they will go outside and pick an area that is in the sun. (This should be done on a day when it is not supposed to rain.) The students will then be allowed to arrange the coins in any way they want. Students will be given a white flower, such as a white carnation. They will then be allowed to choose what color they would like to add to their water. Once they have chosen their colors, they will place their flower in the water. Over the next few days the students will be able to watch as their flowers slowly begin to change colors. Students will need to work in groups for the beginning of this project, along with the supervision of the teacher. Students will be given all of the materials needed to create the paper (pulp, screen, container with water, towels, etc..), and with the help of the teacher, they will each be able to make their own paper.
