Ahmed is a shift engineer at a thermal power plant. Recently, Ahmed has been experiencing increased stress due to multiple factors:

During his shift, the coal conveyor belt frequently trips due to overload, leading to delays and extra troubleshooting work.

One of his team members recently left the job, increasing Ahmed’s workload and responsibilities.

Ahmed has been asked to prepare a presentation on a new maintenance strategy for an upcoming management meeting, but he feels he lacks the time to prepare properly.

On top of work pressures, Ahmed finds it challenging to adjust his sleep schedule due to rotational shifts, which leaves him fatigued and irritable.

During his shift, Ahmed often gets calls from family asking for help with household matters, adding to his sense of being overwhelmed.

Also a new company policy has been introduced, requiring engineers like Ahmed to follow a new reporting format for shift logs and operational reports. Ahmed finds this change to be a hassle, as he was accustomed to the old format and now has to adjust to the new one.

Questions:

1.Which stressors are within Ahmed’s control and important? What should he do to manage them?

2.Which stressors are within Ahmed’s control but not important? How should he address these?

3.Which stressors are outside Ahmed’s control but not important? How should he handle them?

4.Which stressors are outside Ahmed’s control but important? What is the best approach?
