1. Orientation (Introduction of Characters)

Narrator:

Long ago, there lived a girl named Bawang Putih who stayed with her father. After her mother passed away, her father remarried a widow who had a daughter named Bawang Merah. From that day on, Bawang Putih’s life was no longer happy.

Father:

Bawang Putih, Bawang Merah, please take care of the house and love each other, alright?

Stepmother (with a fake smile):

Of course, my dear husband. We will live peacefully together.

Narrator:

However, when the father went away for business, the stepmother and Bawang Merah showed their true nature.

2. Complication (The Problem Appears)

Bawang Merah:

Hey, Bawang Putih! Hurry up and clean the floor and wash all the clothes! I want to rest!

Bawang Putih:

Alright, Sister. I’ll do it right away.

Stepmother:

You must work harder, Bawang Putih! If you make any mistakes, don’t expect dinner tonight!

Narrator:

Every day, Bawang Putih worked tirelessly without complaining, while her stepmother and Bawang Merah did nothing but laze around.

3. Climax (The Peak of the Problem)

Narrator:

One day, her stepmother’s favorite cloth was swept away by the river while Bawang Putih was washing clothes. She panicked and followed the river downstream to find it.

Bawang Putih (sadly):

Oh no… What should I do? If that cloth is lost, Mother will be furious...

Narrator:

While searching for the cloth, she met an old man.

Grandfather:

Why do you look so sad, my child?

Bawang Putih:

My stepmother’s cloth was carried away by the river, Grandfather. I’m afraid she’ll scold me.

Grandfather:

Don’t worry, I have your cloth. But before I give it back, please help me clean my hut first.

Narrator:

Bawang Putih willingly helped the old man clean his hut. After she finished...

Grandfather:

Thank you, my kind child. Here’s your cloth. As a gift, choose one of these two pumpkins — the big one or the small one.

Bawang Putih:

I’ll take the small one, Grandfather. Thank you very much.

4. Resolution (The Problem is Solved)

Narrator:

When Bawang Putih returned home, her stepmother and Bawang Merah were angry because she was late. But when the small pumpkin was opened...

Bawang Merah (surprised):

Mother! Look! There are gold and jewels inside!

Stepmother (greedy):

What?! Quickly, Bawang Merah! Go to the river and do the same thing!

5. Ending (Conclusion)

Narrator:

Bawang Merah pretended to be kind in front of the old man, but she was lazy and rude.

Grandfather:

You’re not sincere, child. Here’s a pumpkin for you, but be careful.

Narrator:

When they opened the big pumpkin at home...

Bawang Merah:

Aaaah! Snakes! Snakes!

Stepmother:

Help! Snakes are coming out of the pumpkin!

Narrator:

From that day on, the stepmother and Bawang Merah regretted their actions. They apologized to Bawang Putih, and their lives began to change.

Bawang Putih:

I forgive you both. Let’s live peacefully from now on.

Narrator:

And finally, they lived happily ever after, loving and caring for one another.

Story text :

Text 1 :

Once upon a time, in fishing village near the Air Manis Beach, there is a boy that lived only with his mother, his name is Malin Kundang. His mother working tirelessly to raise and support her son

Text 2 :

Everyday, Malin Kundang always help his mother tie the boats and catch fish on the beach, even though Malin Kundang living in poverty. He still has dream, his dream is to achieve wealth and be a successful person.

Text 3 :

One day, a large and big ship anchored in their beach/village. When the ship anchored, Malin Kundang saw an opportunity to leave his village and start working hard in the outside village. Then Malin Kundang ask his mother's permission, with a heavy heart, Malin Kundang's mother give a farewell to him and give him advice to remain humble and polite.

Text 4 :

Years passed, Malin Kundang became a wealthy and successfull merchant. He has everything he wants, but his success made him be an arrogant person and forgot his mother's advice. At that time Malin Kundang was married and already had a wife, his wife wants to know about where is he came from, and his village. With some hesitation, Malin Kundang and his wife return to Malin Kundang's village with a glorious ship.

Text 5 :

After reach nearby the village and the ship is anchored on the beach. There were a lot of villagers gathered on the beach, and someone told Malin Kundang's mother that a wealthy merchant with a glorious ship arrived to the village. After being told, Malin Kundang's mother walking to the beach to welcome the person. After Malin Kundang's mother looked up closely, she saw the scar on the man's arm and believe that he was Malin Kundang.

Text 6 :

Then Malin Kundang's mother ran towards him, calling his name and asked him how he was. Malin Kundang's wife shocked because Malin Kundang told her that his parents were nobles and had passed away. When his wife ask who the old woman was, Malin Kundang push his mother away and denied her as his mother.

Text 7 :

Hearing that Malin Kundang was denied and spoke harshly to her, she felt sadness, heartbroken and anger. While crying, she prayed to God to punished her disobedient son. Suddenly, the sky darkened, and a great storm came. Then Malin Kundang's ship was shattered into a pieces by lightning, it was too late for Malin Kundang to apologies. Malin Kundang was thrown away from his ship and turned into a stone while kneeling.

Scene 1: The Wish

Narrator:

Long ago, in a peaceful village in Java, lived a kind old woman named Mbok Sirni. She had no children and felt very lonely.

Mbok Sirni:

(Sitting by her house) Oh dear… I wish I had a child to love and care for. I would give anything to have a daughter.

Narrator:

Suddenly, a loud sound came from the forest. It was Buto Ijo, a fearsome green giant!

Buto Ijo:

(Enters, growling) HA HA HA! I heard your wish, old woman. I can help you!

Mbok Sirni:

(Startled) Who... who are you?

Buto Ijo:

I am Buto Ijo. Take this cucumber seed. Plant it. You’ll get what you want. But remember… when the child turns 17, she belongs to me!

Mbok Sirni:

(Desperate) I… I agree.

Scene 2: A Baby is Born

Narrator:

Mbok Sirni planted the seed. Soon, a golden cucumber grew. When she cut it open…

Villager:

(Walking by, surprised) Mbok Sirni! Is that… a baby?

Mbok Sirni:

Yes! A beautiful baby girl! I will call her Timun Mas – Golden Cucumber.

Narrator:

Years passed. Timun Mas grew into a smart and strong girl. But Mbok Sirni never told her about the giant’s deal.

Scene 3: The Warning

Narrator:

On Timun Mas’s 17th birthday, Buto Ijo returned.

Buto Ijo:

(Shouts) Mbok Sirni! I’ve come for the girl!

Mbok Sirni:

Please, give us a little more time!

Buto Ijo:

Fine. I’ll be back in 3 days. Don’t you dare run!

Narrator:

Worried, Mbok Sirni went to a wise hermit in the mountains.

Hermit:

(Handing items) Take these: cucumber seeds, needles, salt, and shrimp paste. They are magical. Tell Timun Mas to use them to escape!

Scene 4: The Escape

Narrator:

On the third day, Buto Ijo came back. But Timun Mas had already run into the forest.

Buto Ijo:

(Screams) You can’t hide from me!

Timun Mas:

(Running) I must be brave! I must survive!

Narrator:

First, Timun Mas threw the cucumber seeds. A thick cucumber forest appeared!

Villager:

Wow! Where did that come from?

Buto Ijo:

(Ripping through vines) This won’t stop me!

Narrator:

Next, she threw the needles. A sharp bamboo forest grew!

Buto Ijo:

Ouch! My feet! But I’ll keep going!

Narrator:

Then, Timun Mas threw the salt, which turned into a wide sea!

Villager:

How magical!

Buto Ijo:

(Swimming) I hate water! But I won’t give up!

Narrator:

Finally, Timun Mas threw the shrimp paste. It became boiling mud!

Buto Ijo:

(Sinking) NOOOO! HELP ME! glug glug glug

Scene 5: Safe at Last

Narrator:

Buto Ijo was gone forever. Timun Mas returned home safely.

Mbok Sirni:

(Tears of joy) My daughter! You’re safe!

Timun Mas:

Mother! I missed you!

Villager:

Timun Mas is a hero!

Narrator:

From that day on, Mbok Sirni and Timun Mas lived happily. The village was safe, and peace returned.

First Dialogue

Narator:

Keep chasing your dream, Malin. I believe you will achieve your dream even though you have to struggling.

Narator:

After they done catching fish, they will sell it, and finally they have a buyers

Buyers (Rivaldo):

Excuse me, we want to buy the fish, please.

Buyers: (Ridho):

How much is it?

Malin Kundang's mother:

It's five thousand rupiah, for one fish.

Buyer (Rivaldo):

We want five fish, please.

Malin Kundang's mother: Okay. Here is the fish.

Buyer (Ridho):

Thanks, here is the money

Second Dialogue:

Narator:

One day, a large and big ship anchored in their beach. Malin Kundang saw an opportunity to leave and start working in the outside village, but Malin Kundang want to ask his mother permission first.

Malin Kundang:

Wow there is a big ship! Maybe if i go with the ship, i can become a wealth and successful person.

Narator:

Then Malin Kundang goes to meet his mother.

Malin Kundang:

Mom i saw a big and large ship, i saw an opportunity from that, if i go with the ship may be i'll become a wealth and successful person.

Malin Kundang's mother:

Are you sure, son? It is dangerous if you go outside of the village

Malin Kundang:

Im a hundred percent sure, mom. I promise we will never have to struggle like this anymore

Narator:

With a heavy heart, his mother allow him

Malin Kundang's mother:

If that is your desire, then promise me that you have to remain humble and polite

Third Dialogue:

Narator:

Years passed, Malin Kundang has already became a wealth person. His success made him be an arrogant person. He had a wife at that time.

Malin Kundang's wife:

Malin, i want to know about you, i want to know where were you come from.

Malin Kundang:

Im come from Air Manis beach, darling.

Malin Kundang's wife:

What is that? Where is it? Please show me, honey.

Narator:

With hesitation, Malin Kundang and his wife return to his village to show his wife.

One day, he finally reach the village. His ship seen on the beach

Malin Kundang:

We will anchored here. Here is my village, my wife.

Narator:

As the villager saw a big ship, someone told Malin Kundang's mother that a big and large ship anchored in their beach.

The Informant (Syahrul):

Maam, there is a big ship anchored in near our beach.

Malin Kundang's mother:

Really? I will go and meet them.

The Informant (Syahrul):

Yes, let's go then

Narator:

As they arrived in the beach, Malin Kundang's mother recognized that the wealthy man is his son.

Malin Kundang's mother:

Wait, i know the scar is, it is my son!

Narator:

Malin Kundang's mother then approach his son as she calling his name and asked him how he was. But Malin Kundang denied her as his mother.

Malin Kundang's mother:

Malin, son. How are you? You did keep your promise that you will became a wealthy and successful man

Malin Kundang's wife:

Huh? Who is this woman? Malin, you told me that your parents were a nobles and they already passed away, are you lie to me?

Malin Kundang:

Who are you?! My parents already passed away and they were a nobles, don't try to be my mother! Let's get back to the ship. (Malin push his mother away).

Last Dialogue:

Narator:

As the mother heard that Malin Kundang denied her as his mother, she felt sad, heartbroken, and anger. While crying, she prayed to God.

Malin Kundang's mother:

God, if he is truly my son, Malin Kundang. I cursed him to turn become stone for his disobedient.

Narator:

Suddenly, the sky darkened and the great storm came. Then Malin Kundang's ship was shattered into a a pieces by lighting. It was too late for Malin to apologies. He was turned into a stone while kneeling
