The name of the school, which was opened as Recep Mahallesi Primary School, was changed to Mehmetçik Primary School by Burdur Governor Recai Tosyalı in 1981.

The school building was used jointly with Akdeniz University Isparta Architect Engineering Faculty Vocational School between 1982-1988.

The school gave its first graduates in the 1981-1982 academic year, and became a primary school in the 1995-1996 academic year. It started to graduate from the 8th grade in the 1997-1998 academic year. The mode of education is normal education.

As a result of the transformation to the 4+4+4 education system, our school started to serve as a secondary school.

In 2012, its name was changed to Hüsnü Bayer Secondary School.

In the 2016-2017 academic year, it continues its education with 12 classrooms, IT laboratory, multi-purpose hall, basketball and volleyball courts. The form of heating is natural gas.
