He says that Simon (all boys and mankind) will never be able to escape the fears and lies within each and everyone of us. This event is a representation of the overall message the author wants us readers to walk away with. In this attack, Piggy's glasses are broken, and then stolen by Jack. Piggy's glasses represent truth and clarity. When they are broken, and stolen, this represents that the boys have lost their vision of what is right, and what is wrong. When they get there, Jack has the boys in his tribe tie up the twins, and then Ralph and Jack become angry with each other and they start to fight. Then Piggy holds up the conch and starts talking to everyone about how they should not be savages. Then Roger, releases a rock, that smashes piggy, and makes him fly off a cliff, and fall into the sea. The death of Piggy leaves Ralph by himself, and the rest of the boys hunting him. In order to find him, they light the Island on fire and try to smoke him out. As a result, a passing ship from the Navy sees all the smoke and comes to see if the was anyone on the Island. Ralph is running from the tribe, when he runs onto the beach, and sees a naval officer. All the boys stop when they see him, and he asks them about who had died, and then tells them that they should not have behaved the way they did.
