THE SMITHS

The Smiths were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982. The band consisted of vocalist Morrissey, guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce. Critics have called them the most important rock band to emerge from the Manchester Music Scene. The Smiths are defiantly my favourite band from the Manchester Music scene. However the band split up along time ago and I'm considering writing about the split and Morrissey going solo.

Oasis, formerly known as 'The Rain' were an English Rock band from Manchester who still to this day inspire other musicians and people across the globe. Oasis have had eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums, and won fifteen NME Awards. The bands front man Liam Gallagher is known for his notorious attitude and bad behaviour, this is something I'm considering writing about for my article.

I was lucky enough to go on a Manchester Music Scene tour with Craig Gill (Drummer from Inspiral Carpets) On the tour we got to visit historical locations such as the Hacienda Apartments which was formerly the Hacienda night club. We also visited where the bands recorded albums and socialized. The tour was a good experience and I got to speak to someone who had first hand knowledge and experience of the 'Madchester Scene'
