In this slide show, I wrote creative pieces in the form of vignettes and poems which were modeled off the novel House on Mango Street. There are three vignettes ( My name, Identity event, coming of age) and three poems (Bio poem, Those who don't, gender roles). In each piece, I focused on adding figurative language and using quality words to convey a certain mood.

This is a nonfiction piece where I compare topics from the vignettes "My name" and the article "The power of names." I discuss how words/meanings can have hidden meanings and how women are treated less important in society. I used evidence from both the vignette and the article to support my ideas.

In this nonfiction piece, I discuss how gender stereotypes negatively impact society, how gender roles are portrayed in House on Mango Street, and form predictions on how these gender roles and stereotypes could impact characters from the HOMS in the fuchure. I used text evidence from the article and story to support my ideas.
