  St. Lucia is a residential suburb which is located southwest of the Brisbane Central Business District (CBD).

 St. Lucia's main attraction is The University of Queensland (UQ) (est.1911)

UQ has 51,070 in total of active students. In which 13,337 of them are international students (About UQ, 2017).

With the amount of international students enrolled at UQ, St.Lucia becomes the convenient location for students accommodation

What: A plan for developing the campus in a long-term vision in the field of research and efficient infrastructure (e.g. students' accommodation, alternative routes to UQ, etc.)

Where: The plan will be conducted at UQ surroundings and facilities.

Why: The Uni plans to keep expanding the facilities available or yet to be available in order to increase the quality and practicality in the industry of academy.

Traffic Congestion: Local community has gave its concern in regards of traffic that was created by the existence of UQ. With the total amount of students and staff who have to attend the campus everyday, UQ has caused traffics in several areas at St.Lucia. Alternative bridge that was proposed by UQ has been triggering many concerns from locals as it would only cause more traffic and the potential of cutting of green space available at the suburb

Other General Concerns: Plans of building high-density student accommodation may impacts the public transportation demands, land-retail price, and campus density report.

The whole suburb is structured to effectively get people to the university. In comparison to the old times the place was just used for agricultural purposes. St Lucia is now a mini city as the university continues to expand. The expansion however comes with a price. The private places in their suburbs have now become public spaces for the people who go to the university, in this case mainly students. Suburbs as mentioned last week, were created to keep a distance and separation so as to maximise the private space and create a safe haven. With the expansion of the university, instead of creating a safe haven for the residents, it is creating bigger insecurities.
