Yes i said it, i live for myself. That statement has a negative connotation in today's society. When i say i live for myself i mean i do whatever i deem positive in my life, such as practicing personal hygiene or being social. I'm not a hedonist though, i do not search for infinite pleasure. Some may say that philosophy is selfish, but i disagree because i feel helping others and doing things for others is a big part of self satisfaction. I find this mindset important to me because; i'm stuck with me for life, why not make the most of what i have? I'm not sure if this self serving philosophy has changed the way i act towards others much, but i do feel quite a strong connection with myself and who i am. This philosophy has also made me quite and indecisive person who knows his limits and doesn't take a whole lot of risks, but with that comes regret, there are alot of missed chances i still think about from time to time.

Transcendentalism believes in this unity of all things in reality, and true understanding, which i totally dig and can understand, i'm not opposed to this idea. I believe my philosophy can build off the idea of transcendentalism with the difference being that you must understand yourself deeply and then reality will expose all the wonderful things about life and you can find beauty in everything.

Thoreau speaks with such detail, it forces the reader to slow down and focus and imagine the things which he is describing, he must have really had a love for life and everything it had to offer. In my opinion this form of writing was simply impossible until the last few hundred years, and the idea of such deep reflection on life and one's self as a whole. I say this because of how we are living more these days than surviving.
