The tropical Rain forest is the oldest and most diverse biome that is located around the equator. The Tropical Rain Forest may only cover 7% of the earths surface but it contains around half of all living plants and animals in the world. The Tropical Rain Forest has three layers: The canopy, understory, and the forest floor. The canopy receives most of the sun light so little to no sunlight reach the forest floor. The Tropical Rain Forest never gets cold.

The Tropical Rain Forest is found between the latitudes of 23.5 N and 23.5 S. The Altitudes of the Tropical Rain Forest are 5,000 ft - 3,000 ft in mountainous regions and 0 m - 1,000 m in non mountainous regions. Since this biome is closer to the equator it is warmer and it receives more rain. Since the Tropical Rain Forest's Altitude is closer to the seas this means the biome is hotter and causes more evaporation. This will lead to more rain.

The Tropical Rain Forest have varying Topography. This biome can be flat lowland plains or highland valleys with streams. Since this biome is really close to the equator it receives a lot of direct sunlight. Since the insolation is high and it is so close to the equator this causes the rain forest to be hot all year round because it receives direct sunlight all year round.

One of the major threats currently is deforestation because if you want lumber or land to build something you have to cut down trees. Another major threat is mining in the Tropical Rain Forest because the governments are cutting large areas of trees down for the purpose of mining there.
