Beowulf used his strength to overwhelm his opponent, he is also very presentable and walks and talks confidently and everyone looks at him as this glorious warrior. Beowulf did not seek reward and just wanting to help get rid of what was terrorizing the people. Douglas MacArthur was stationed in the Philippines during the beginning of WWII when the Japanese forces invaded, fearing capture MacArthur escaped to Australia bearing the iconic phrase "I shall return", not long after MacArthur stuck with his word and returned to the Philippines to capture it back from japan and return it to its citizens ownership.
