Citra is a sharp character, quick to anger yet compassionate. Scythe Faraday believes she has two traits scythes must have; empathetic and headstrong. Initially, Citra hated scythes and could never align herself with them. Later, she learned how you can still be compassionate (while being a scythe) and she can protect her family.

In Scythe, Midmerica is a region of Earth created by the Thunderhead. This region is the primary setting for the story. The capital of Midmerica, Fulcrum City, is where the main characters are located. It's believed to be in the Northwest of North America, extending from the Midwest of the United States towards Canada.

Rowan is more of a do er as sctyche faraday saw when he was gleaning the quarter back of their school Rowan went in there and held the kids hand so the scythe wouldn't glean him and was almost disagreeing with the sctyches showing he has no urge to be one but later on he shows he can make people feel comfortable even when they are about to die as Rowan showed to the man that was chosen by Rowan

Corruption

Scythes have a lot of power and authority. Scythe Faraday references the abuse of power and emphasizes the importance of having principles. Scythe Goddard is a good example of corruption and greed. He gleans in mass and lives lavishly. He even uses his authority and people's desperation to live to get what he wants. This doesn't bother him but empowers him.

Power and Responsibility

The scythes hold a lot of power and must use it responsibly. Scythe Faraday and Scythe Curie represent how a scythe should be: compassionate and responsible. They understand they cause sorrow but use their empathy to moron and reflect on the loss. Scythe Curie, despite her power, has rules for herself. Scythe Faraday, Scythe Curie, and Scythe Goddard also show responsibility with Citra and Rowan.

Scythe Faraday is a very interesting man. He is somebody who I would describe as clever, empathetic, and organized. He shows this through his extensive planning and the criteria to find his victims. Other ways he shows these virtues include, his teachings, gleanings and how he lives his life. Before meeting him Citra and Rowan both hated scythes.

Scythe Faraday's house is very simple. He lives in an extremely ordinary almost poverty level home. The only things that set it apart from a normal home would be his weapons din. Which is full of blades, guns, and poisons that he can use to glean the people of his criteria.

Scythe Faraday vs. Self

Scythe Faraday Vs. Self. He shows this by having to make a lot of hard decisions throughout the book. Things like who be his next apprentice, who he has to glean, and whether his life is worth more than his young apprentices or not. This ends up in him taking his own life enabling his apprentices to live on.

Rowans school is like any other highschool just years into he future like they still have a star quarter back they care about their team in sports its all a normal highschool the on,y thing that sets it apart is the fact students get gleaned in the school in a back room in the office

Rowan used to get bullied when he was younger while in school and through this he has developed a different way of thinking which makes him put others before him like the kid he tried to save the kid but it doesn't end up working he then gets hired by scythe faraday and scythe faraday sees a lot in him that would make a good scythe

Coming of age

Throughout the book "coming of age" is a very important theme. Not only are they getting older as people but they are also becoming wiser and better at what they do. Before this they really had no purpose but after becoming Scythe apprentices they realized their calling. And understood that they had grown older not only in appearance but in mind and career.

Death Penalty

This book reminds me of the death penalty very heavily. Whether you agree with it or disagree with it this story shows both perspectives. I personally think that the thunderhead is a wonderful thing. It makes it as fair as the government could possibly be. But Scythes are awful and should not be a thing.

Anti aging

In Scythe When the thunderhead takes control over the world besides the scythes they have to come up with ways to take people out of the world and this causes people to lose motivation for life throughout the book it almost gives us a look at if we never died and how the world would be and we get clues from this from rowan and citra both

When the book first started citra and Rowan both signs of being disgusted by scythes and didn't fully understand them until faraday took them in as a apprentice this changed their way of thinking throughout the whole book as citra and Rowan learn more about the scythe world this opens up their minds and allows them to understand and now are fighting to be scythes
