1473-1543
Copernicus was a Polish polymath who was born in a small Polish town named Torun. He is named the father of modern astronomy due to his proposition stating that the planets revolve around the sun. His proposition went against the church's rules which stated that all the planets revolve around the Earth. While Copernicus had theories that made sense he did not have the tools to prove his theories.

The heliocentric theory was adapted around 1507 and 1515. It is a theory that stated that the planets revolve around the sun at the center of the universe. It later became Heliocentrism which goes against the Church's geocentrism. This still impacts us today because it was the correct theory about the Earth and other planets.

1571-1630
Johannes Kepler was a German philosopher, mathematician and astrologer. He is most known for his three laws of planetary motion which are still in use today. His three laws state that planets move in elliptical orbits with the Sun as a focus, a planet covers the same area of space in the same amount of time no matter where it is in its orbit, and a planet's orbital period is proportional to the size of its orbit. These three laws also went against what was common at the time.
