Helmuth was listening to this radio in secret one night in 1941 when he heard that the Nazi propaganda was dishonest and often outright lying. Naturally, he was shocked, as citizens of Germany were told that the Axis powers had many great victories against the Allies, when in fact, they had lost many of these battles. Helmuth told his closest friends, Rudolf 'Rudi' Wobbe and Karl-Heinz Schnibbe. Together, they began to hand out flyers to the rest of the people in their town to help spread the truth.
