Personally, I believe students learn and understand better when they are in the classroom. Online learning makes it difficult to reach students with learning disabilities and SEL needs.

I feel that online learning is challenging and not the best model for some students but also works very well and is flexible for other students. Distance learning has its challenges and having students that enjoy distance learning because it helps them feel more comfortable makes it easier to keep them engaged and motivated.

I was surprised to see the disparity between public schools and charter schools regarding standardized testing. The whole distance learning situation is a bit sad, but I'm thankful students are beginning to return to in-person instruction.

I agree with Geraldine, that online learning works better for some students. I have seen some students that experience a lot of social anxiety performing very well in classes where they don't have to worry about all of the extra things that come with being in a room full of people. I think, for some students, they would not have discovered how well they could perform academically, had we not been thrust into distance learning through the pandemic. This has given students and their parents some insight into learning styles and I hope we can find a way in regular schools to provide an online curriculum that can help students who perform well in this type of environment to succeed.

I was baffled (didn't want to write "surprised") by the information in your presentation, in particular about the startling low academic achievement of the online charter schools. I work for a charter school and they pride themselves on the rigorous curriculum they provide the scholars (they don't call students' students', we call them scholars) compared to public schools. Even now, during distance learning, the teacher's were asked to teach the most essential parts of the curriculum and they are far more advanced than what they are doing in public schools.
