1. Power affects a story because that power may restrict the content to only their side of the point.
 2. I believe that this quote means if you are great at something, but don't win at that thing, you will be overshadowing by the person that has succeeded.

-Why are stories so important? Why is it so important to reject the "single story"?  
1. Stories are important for us because it can help us understand what is going on in other peoples's daily life. In addition, stories help people with their imagination.      
2. It is important to reject a single story because if you listen to one side of a story, you won't know what is actually true. In addition, you might be persuaded into things that might not be true.  

 Use academic language, and pay close attention to punctuation and capitalization.

How would you describe the speaker of this poem? What evidence from the poem supports your interpretation? I would describe the speaker of this poem as eager to not follow the path of everyone else's leader. For example, in the poem she say," I will not lend my soul nor my bones to your war drum."
 

2.The word “drummed” in line 15 is used in a way that is related to, but different from, the“drum” that is referred to in the rest of the poem. What does " drummed " mean here, and how does it relate to the poem’s central message? I believe the word " drummed" means that the war that they are fighting is worn out and isn't going to help anybody. This word relates to the poem's central message because it helps explain things that she is not going to follow after. 

3. Overall, is this an optimistic or pessimistic poem? Explain your view by making specific references to the language in the text. I believe that this poem is optimistic because the speaker is wanting a better future then what everyone else is falling for. For example, in the poem it says," I know intimately that skin you are hitting. It was alive once hunted stolen stretched." When I consider that every living thing holds its state of perfection for only a brief moment; that this huge stage, the world, presents only sham performances, which the stars secretly influence; when I realise that men grow like plants, encouraged and inhibited by the same weather, show off when flushed with youthful sap, then declining when full-grown, wearing away until their youth has been forgotten; then the consideration of this short, unpredictable life makes me see you as rich in youth in the face of the plans of Time and Decay to change your day of youth to dingy night. And, at war with Time because of my love for you, as he’s taking from you I’m renewing you in my poetry.
