Challenges that I may face as a coach when executing TGFU is uncertainty in executing certain objectives that I want my players to reach. Time & knowledge constraints and lastly the ability to engage all my players.

I believe the major challenge i will face is the lack of knowledge and creativity to come up with drills that are aligned with the TGFU method. As in my personal experience being coached under multiple sports & martial arts, I have always been coached & taught using the traditional method.

Therefore to implement this in my coaching would be a new experience which requires me to upgrade myself and learn through trial & error which comes the issue of time constraint within the training itself. In learning through trial & error, I might have not enough time or wasted the athletes time. Which is why I have to upgrade my theoretical knowledge and put myself through my own drills but in the shoes of my athletes. I would have to think and plan ahead as to how my athletes would think or respond to certain drills and reverse engineer my drills.

I would also encounter the issue of difference in skill & experience level therefore making it difficult to effectively engage all my players. Some players might already know and are able to execute the objective i am trying to isolate so how am i able to still teach this objective to the other players but still keep the advanced players engages which is why i have to do my reverse engineering for all skill & age groups

GAME 1: I believe Coach Chris did well in shaping the game in a simple way which did not include too many rule alterations. His modifications to the game including number of players, playing space & rules were adequate, simple to understand and clearly reflected the tactical problem he was trying to create. He also ensured that all participants understood the rules and even checked regarding their wellbeing before the game and also answered one of the participants questions whom was unclear. The point in system, made it specifically clear to some of the players that this modification was a new ruleset in place which is something they had to bear in mind. He also gave indirect reminders by counting the points out loud and most importantly he specified the rules of interceptions and tackles which made the games safer and more easier to understand.

Q&A: Coach Chris began by recapping on the rules with the players and asked them to dive deeper into the reason why he made specific rules such as the new point system which as he made them pointed out isnt in the normal soccer game. By asking a variety of questions from convergent to divergent questions and also doubling down using vague questioning such as why they think a certain way. He managed to use the questioning to guide them to the particular problem that he was shaping the play for. In turn they were able to understand better and come up with their own different solutions to this issue.

Practice task: Coach Chris gave the AAA analogy which is easy to remember as a coaching cue and also he broke it down for each task in a way that was simple and not too in depth so that players can understand better. But at the same time, the main emphasis of each cue was also explained regarding the whys & hows of the cue. He also made sure to check for understanding by taking turns asking all the players questions regarding the coaching cues and the practice task they were assigned with.

Game 2: Coach Chris manage to use the freeze play in the best situations where it required them. Freeze play for when the defenders failed and there is a teachable moment for the players. He could have also done a reverse play for more in depth understanding of the situation whereby it is similar to watching footage except the players are actually going through the live action and motions of the situation which will make it more ingrained in their memory
