In Fears and Phobias, an informational text, I noticed how often this article related much of its connections to science. I was able to read, highlight, and identify unknown words that assisted my comprehension of the informational text. While Life Doesn't Frighten Me, a lyrical poem, was an in-depth analysis of courage that provoked the reader with several types of figurative language. (simile, metaphors, personification, etc.)

The sub-headings in Fears and Phobias helped me understand the main idea! Each text feature gave me an idea of what every paragraph was about without giving to much away. I noticed the difference in writing while one text was hyper focused on comparing/contrasting the idea of Fears and Phobias. The other reached out and played on the reader's senses. I felt more connected to the poem, Life Doesn't Frighten Me, but I was fascinated by the scientific facts incorporated throughout "Fears and Phobias".
