" Antonio Ligabue made this painting in  1957.
It is oil on canvas. In the landscape we can seee a black dog, some horses and the town of  Gualtieri where Ligabue spent most of the years of his life in Italy. By the side of the man there's a dog and they are walking together along a  path. The colours are cold and with different shades. The man seems to feel at ease with his dog and they are both relaxed.
There's some contrast between the natural landscape and the man , who is standing in front. He's wearing a brown coat that is typical o the men of the time. The face of the man is similar to the real man that we can find on the internet. The painting  dates to 1950-1955.
In this painting we can see the countryside in the region " Emillia- Romagna" where Ligabue, in a place named Gualtieri in the province of Reggio Emilia.
There is a man , a farmer, that is working on a farm and there are some oxen that are working . They are clearing the soil for the new crops. Ligabue arrived from Switzerland and lived on a farm  in Gualtieri. As a result we was familiar with the life cycle of the fields and crops , harversting. Here we can see the plain near Gualtieri and it is a document of the life of people in the past, farmers who were very poor and worked hard. This painting by Ligabue is very cruent and presents a lion which killls a  zebra to survive and to eat.
They are in front of other  zebras in a jungle and near a lot of plants.
The colours are very  bright and realistic.
The landscape is not the typical one from the  region in which Ligabue was  living. Perhaps  the painter is presenting the bad ones that are taking advantage of the weak  people.  We know that people felt that  Ligabue was  crazy and  they didn't love him- who was an outsider.
