Finding the balance here is a difficult thing to do. I think that this will vary largely based on person, school, and student. Basically as long as the students learn, have proper interactions with one another, and have a grasp of technology made available to them they will do fine. Personally I think too much technology can occur in a classroom that would result in students not gaining proper writing or interaction skills.

I definitely think that technology can be used too much in the classroom. An example of this would be students typing notes instead of writing them is bad because they remember more of what is written than typed, also students need some sort of problems to work on paper.

It is important to have a balance! I think that students need to be comfortable with technology, however, they should not be entirely reliant on it. What happens if the electricity goes out or if the smartboard is broken? Have the students practice with technology so that they are able to efficiently use it. Also, make sure they know how to operate without it. For instance, make sure the students know how to look up a definition in the dictionary instead of relying on Google.

Try not to use technology everyday but perhaps once a week instead. You could also balance it out by for example when learning about plants, introduce them to an interactive game where they can visually see the process behind it in how it grows and then move to hands on activity by providing them with real take home plants to where they can conduct their own research based on their findings of it.

This is a good question that I believe most educators can undsertand. I think it is important for educators to find a balance of using technology in the classroom. As Hannah said, technology should be used comfortably by children but they should not be reliant. Children should know that technology is a helpful tool but that without it the classroom can still manage. One idea is try using a marker board one day instead of a SmartBoard.

Response 1:
I think it depends on the classroom, and their ability to focus on how much technology should be used. Maybe set an allotted time limit for the students to be on technology every day or give them until they finish a certain task.

Response 2:
Yes it is possible. One of my high school teachers used laptops daily and 99% of the time nobody was doing what they were supposed to be doing. PLUS too much screen time is bad for your eyes, especially in younger children whose eyes are still developing.
